There was a time when I believed my worth had to be earned.

I searched for it in achievement, in acceptance, in relationships, and in the opinions of people. I spent years trying to prove I was enough while quietly carrying wounds that no one could see. Beneath the smiles were seasons of abandonment, trauma, anxiety, depression, and wondering if I would ever truly belong.

Then Jesus found me. Not because I had everything together, but because He never stopped pursuing me.

Little by little, He rebuilt what life had broken. He taught me that my identity was never meant to be found in my accomplishments, my title, or the approval of others. It was always meant to be found in Him. That truth changed everything.

For nearly two decades, I have had the privilege of serving my community as a police sergeant. Every day has placed me face-to-face with people experiencing some of the hardest moments of their lives. Behind every crisis report, every emergency call, and every difficult encounter is a person who simply wants to be seen, understood, and reminded that hope still exists.

Serving others has never just been my profession. It has become part of my calling.

Those experiences have taught me compassion, resilience, and the importance of meeting people exactly where they are, because someone once met me there.

Orion’s Oasis was born from that journey. It isn’t simply a brand. It isn’t just photography. It isn’t only journals, apparel, or creative projects. It is a place of restoration. A place where beauty meets purpose. A place where faith and creativity remind us that healing is possible. Everything you find here has been created with one prayer in mind: that it would encourage someone who may be quietly carrying burdens they were never meant to carry alone.

I believe beauty reflects the Creator. I believe peace can exist in the middle of chaos. I believe healing is possible after trauma. I believe it’s never too late to begin again. Most of all, I believe that our greatest identity is not found in what we’ve survived, but in whose we are. Midlife has become one of God’s greatest gifts to me. It has taught me that confidence doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from surrender. Beauty isn’t measured by youth. Success isn’t measured by titles. Freedom comes from knowing that we are fully loved by Christ.
